Beware of These Frauds
Phishing
Fraudsters send fake emails that look like HDFC Bank emails asking you to click a link and update KYC. Check the sender email address carefully.
Vishing
You receive a call posing as a Bank Manager claiming your card is blocked. They ask for OTP to 'unblock' it. Disconnect immediately.
SIM Swap
Fraudsters clone your SIM card to receive your OTPs. If your phone suddenly loses network for a long time, contact your operator.
Skimming
Devices attached to ATMs can copy your card data. Always cover the keypad while entering PIN and check the card slot for loose parts.
Safe Card Usage (ATM/POS)
- Inspect the ATM: Check for any glue marks, loose card slots, or hidden cameras before using an ATM.
- Hide your PIN: Stand close to the machine and cover the keypad with your hand while entering the PIN.
- Keep Card in Sight: At restaurants or petrol pumps, never let the merchant take your card away. Ensure the card is swiped in your presence.
- Manage Limits: Use the MyCards app or NetBanking to set limits for Online, POS, and ATM usage. Disable International usage if not traveling.
- SMS Alerts: Ensure your mobile number is updated to receive instant transaction alerts.
Safe Online Shopping
Ensure you are shopping securely to prevent data theft.
Check for HTTPS: Look for the "Padlock" icon in the browser address bar. The URL should start with https:// not http://.
